Suicide web sites, part 2
It seems the entry I posted a while back on suicide web sites has gotten a few responses from incredulous users wondering how I could be so insensitive as to suggest people "just get over" being suicidal.
I think you guys misunderstood me.
Dealing with suicide isn't an easy thing. I understand that. I lost a close friend to suicide in 2001. By all accounts he was a successful, happy guy. He had a great job in a technical industry, was very bright and always had a joke to share. But he evidently had some problems that he didn't deal with. My earlier post was a call for people to do something about their problems. Don't reach out to other suicidal people and make suicide pacts. What's that going to do other than get you dead?
Twiztedme@hotmail.com, I'd suggest getting in touch with someone who can help with your issues.
The Register has a story about a guy who hanged himself before going to trail on the charges that he helped someone commit suicide after meeting through one of these suicide websites. Evidently, he was supposed to kill himself as well, but changed his mind at the last minute.

We will return after these messages....
I decided not to update the blog during the war since most everyone else in the freaking universe was warblogging. Now that things have settled down a bit, I'll post some older content I wrote but never posted during that time. Since I posted the last entry, the cruise happened and some interesting stuff went down at work. I'll expand more later.
